Why Switch and Steal?

West Coast Swing invites us to play with the music and our dance partners, and to improvise with each other. It offers a lot of freedom that we all enjoy so much. Still, this unique dance builds on strict roles with different responsibilities, such as deciding on the structure of the dance for the leaders or playing within this structure for the followers.

We believe learning to dance and fully appreciate both roles allows us - as dancers and humans - to develop empathy and a better understanding of ourselves, our own dancing, and our partner.

With SwitchOn Northwest, we offer a unique way for you to explore both roles. We will show you ways of switching fluently between lead and follow in the middle of a dance. We also offer stealing workshops to expand your dance horizon even further.

Join us for chill, fun events packed with new switch and steal material that will broaden your perspective on WCS!

About Us

Marcus was excited about switch and steal from the moment he saw it on the social dance floor in Seattle, inspiring him to take some initial, excellent, workshops from Samantha Buckwalter and Mahal Fedor.

Once completely hooked he took a few private lessons, a few more workshops and learned about SwitchXperience Paris.  Attending that event crystalized his love of switch and steal inspiring him to work toward promoting SwithOn NW event with the visoun of creating something as wonderful as SwitchXperience Paris and Berlin.

Denice loves Marcus and all things WCS and wants to help the WCS community and its values flourish and grow.  Helping to develop switch and steal is a unique and fun way to do that!  She is also loving the adventure of learning to lead!
